Short Suite for Small Orchestra

First performance, June 8 2009, London

I: Andante Con Moto

II: Austere

III: As if without bar lines

The Stranded Ensemble, conducted by Ewan Campbell

Program Note

This piece was inspired (at least somewhat) by Stravinsky's Short Suites for Small Orchestra. It was written for the London Contemporary Chamber Orchestra. The text in the third movement is from Kant's essay "Idea for a Universal History with a Cosmopolitan Intent."
