Recording update/new piece/premiere

A lot has happened lately, to say the least. First of all, we hit the fundraising goal, and the string quartet recording project is go! Rehearsals this week, and the studio date is this coming Monday, and I am extremely excited. Thank you for all of your support!

In a well-timed twist of fate, my friend Kim moved to London, and a friend of hers decided to put on a charity concert there, and asked her for some pieces, and she asked me for one, so I gave her the quartet, and now it’s finally getting a premiere performance. That’s this Friday, January 21, at The Rag Factory in East London at 8. I’m really sorry I can’t make the flight, because that’s an awesome neighborhood, and London friends, I miss you very much.

There’s someone else I miss very much, and that is my grandmother, Florence Norton. She passed away on Thanksgiving Day. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t updated the website in a while…things have been hard. Very. But I wrote a piece for the service for her, and I think she would have liked it. It’s called Elegy. Here it is:

Moon Songs is basically finished, and I’m doing some revisions and moving on to writing a piece for clarinet and piano for a friend from Reykjavik.
