I just discovered that my music is on Spotify. If you listen to it there, you don’t have to pay for it, but I do in fact receive like three cents, which at this point will most likely go to either a PA, an Orange Rockerverb 50, or an Apogee GiO, which are all things I’ve decided I need.
If you’re not on Spotify yet, I can’t recommend it enough. It looks a lot like iTunes, but you can listen to just about anything without ever paying or needing to download it, it’s legal, and there’s a whole social aspect where you can send music to your friends and subscribe to playlists. I made one called “Things I’ve been meaning to listen to,” and in about a week it has grown to 571 tracks.
I don’t know if any of you are on last.fm, but I really dig that site for discovering new things to listen to, because it tracks what you play in iTunes/Spotify/on your phone/whatever else, and then makes recommendations based on that. Spotify does indeed integrate really nicely with it, and I’ve learned about some absolute gems on there already. Two items for today’s recommended listening: Colin Stetson and Years.
Anyway, if we’re not friends on either of those yet, click here to follow me on Spotify, and click here to follow me on last.fm. I’ve also got an artist page on last.fm, but I think if you’re reading this then there won’t be anything there you don’t know.
I’ve been working on the mini clarinet concerto thing for Portmanto this week, and I think it’s going to be pretty rockin’. I’m excited.
