About Waterbug’s Shadow

Waterbug’s Shadow was commissioned by HOCKET for #What2020SoundsLike, their ambitious project to commission and premiere short works from 50 composers for online premieres during the summer and fall of 2020. I was honored to be included, and instead of musically diving headfirst into the chaos that the year represented in my life, was instead inspired by an escape of a hike that my friend Alex Miller—who was also commissioned—and I took up to a quiet waterfall with waterbugs and their shadows flitting around in small pools.
